Hi, it's Sheena
Jake asked me to hijack his blog and put up this video he made, since he let me put it on my blog too! We are getting into this Fall season. Yea!

My church has issued a time of fasting and prayer until 11/4/08, which is Election Day, and I am participating. It begins right now. =)
As soon as the announcement was made tonight (10/8) I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that I am supposed to fast Internet. What this means is that I will not touch the Internet until 11/5. No blogging, no email, no surfing, no chatting, no texting either. My only form of communication is phone calls, BUT I will still video Skype Chris every Sunday night for family prayer.
No iPhone though. I have turned off my iPhone and put it in a drawer. I will be using a cheapo AT&T flip phone (pictured on left, and no, my blog has not been hijacked, this is still Jake). I will use it for phone calls only.
My secretary (the Sheen) will be monitoring my email inbox just in case something important comes in. I will be back online on 11/5. So until then, check out all of the other awesome blogs on my sidebar over there --->
This will be hard for me, no lying about it. But I am so excited about this, because I know, know, KNOW I am supposed to do it.
If you want more information about this fasting, click HERE and listen to the sermon from tonight entitled, "Building a Spiritual House". It should be up by Friday 10/10. You all know I would not give up Internet for anything, well almost anything =) I'm not telling you this so you'll pat me on the back. Hopefully this will also prompt you to pray for our leaders, and leadership positions.
See you in about a month,
Jake
P.S. feel free to leave lots of comments on this post. My secretary will share them with me.
The Sheen wanted me to pick up some ink for her printer last night, so I stopped on my way home.
The black ink cartridge was $32.something at Wally World.... for the CARTRIDGE alone! I looked down, and spotted a printer, WITH black AND color ink, for $33.something. Huh?
I ended up not buying either. Instead, went online like most techy's and found ink for more than 50% less.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is to introduce you to Zink (zero-ink). It's a new technology on the horizon that will allow you to print without ink. Ya, print black and color without ink.
The technology is in the paper, and the heat that the printer will put out. I'm excited to see how this develops over the next couple of years. You can read more about it HERE.
One of the coolest books I've ever read is The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. In the book, he outlines five langauagee with the idea that everyone feels loved through any of these languages, but usually one or two of them will speak the loudest to you. They are:
Acts of Service
Words of Affirmation
Giving of Gifts
Quality Time
Physical Touch
By knowing your friend/spouse/child/anyone's love language, you will be able to communicate love in such a greater and unhindered way. My love language is Words of Affirmation. They all speak to me, but words will do it the loudest. I'd rather get a compliment on my tattoo then receive a fresh batch of cookies. Sheena on the other hand is different. She needs Quality Time. Most marriages these days fight about money (#1 cause of divorce). For us, quarrels can arise if I haven't spent enough time with her. But the cool thing in all of this is that we both know each other's language. We certainly don't have it all figured out, mind you. But it’s fun.
This book was required reading in order to get married at LWCC, and I am so glad about that because the info inside it is an eye opener. You should read it.
I can hardly wait to discover Jeremiah's later on...
p.s. I don't have a tattoo.
We went to the Apple Festival in Lincoln, AR on Saturday with some family and friends. Picked up some delicious apples and apple butter too.
On our way home, we heard some wrestling noise coming from the backseat. Sheena and I turned around and saw Jeremiah digging in the wal mart sack full of fresh apples.
I didn't get that part on video, but I got him munching. Cool thing about this is that until then, we hadn't witnessed him eat such a food all by himself. Little guy is growing up.
Hot wife + handsome son = blessed man:
He's not quite running on his own yet, but with a little help from this toy he's got it down.
Come witness 60 beautiful seconds of my morning today:
Know what I like about Dave Ramsey? His opinions are Bible-based. Read about his interview HERE.
He also devised a plan for the $700B Wall Street mistakes, dubbed the Common Sense Fix.
The truth is, there is a Fear way of looking at things, and a Biblical way. I choose the latter.
You?
